A recent emergency call out to investigate the premature failure of a valve (tube) in an RF dryer, resulted in comprehensive component checks. Hours of elimination checks led Paolo to the grid area of the valve. The valve failed because of an overheating issue in the grid area of the oscillator circuit. Extensive experience and expert knowledge allowed Paolo to resolve the problem which originated in a specific design flaw which has been a feature of these dryers for decades. OEM’s are usually unaware of inherent design flawed because failures in the field are identified by the field technicians for the symptoms, not necessarily the cause, leading to undetected design flaws and repetitive costly repairs.
The line was re-instated and the customer is happy.
