Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Test
PRF Solutions offer EMF tests undertaken by one of our expert engineers.
Radio Frequency (RF) generates electromagnetic fields which the RF equipment has been designed to contain. EMF tests ensure EMF are safely within legislated levels to be compliant with UK S.I.2016-588 ‘The Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations 2016’ or EU Directive 2013/35/EU (Health and Safety risk to exposure to electromagnetic fields).

Dust and dirt build-up
Dust and dirt can cause a variety of issues, leading to arcing, unreliability, loss of production, loss of machine’s efficiency. Regular cleaning is essential to maintain optimal performance, prevent equipment breakdown, and ensure consistent drying quality.
Cleaning should not be limited to the RF processing chamber but extended to the RF dryer as a whole, including parts of the RF oscillator circuit. Condensation
Condensation is a common fault in RF drying machines. A poor cooling system will cause condensation in the oscillator circuit with arcing leading to catastrophic failures. Insufficient airflow in the RF processing chamber will also cause condensation with arcing that will damage product, processing belt and RF components. Condensation must be completely eliminated for reliable operation.

Poor ventilation can cause heat build-up, damaging to oscillator components and reducing the triode valve (tube)’s lifespan. In most applications, correct airflow in the RF processing chamber will maintain reliable operation, consistent drying, and ensure optimal results. Ventilation and airflow must be kept in top condition for reliable operation and longevity.
Correct Spare Parts
Correct specification of spare parts is essential to reliable operation. Lack of knowledge and production pressure often leads to rash decisions in replacing parts on RF drying machines. The consequence is often the catastrophic failure of the RF machine. For a reliable operation always replace components equal or better to the ones fitted by the OEM.
